Supervision Training Feedback
We had our manager’s meeting yesterday and the praise for you was amazing. Everyone has commented on how you’ve made such a difference in their practice. They’re excited and intrigued for the group sessions.
It was good to see different ways of approaching supervision, I think I took from it the importance of listening and showing that I am listening and maybe having a plan in my head before each individual supervision.
I found Beccie’s training really interesting and found her knowledge on supervision training invaluable. Beccie led the training to our own needs and the practice supervisions were not only very helpful, but also gave me pointers on how to supervise a tricky member of staff, which was actually really helpful. I hope we can have more of her training in the future.
I can’t thank you enough for the 2 days spent with you and for how much I learnt not only about myself but how to further support the staff I work with. Staff well-being is incredibly important to me as I have previously been let down myself, I know how it feels, I wouldn’t want that for anyone I work with, so I really try and make them feel appreciated, heard, and understood. Which are things you have taught me. You really taught me how important body language is, to remain open and remember my active listening skills, to hear their story and help them with where they’re at. I found the time spent with you so inspiring but mainly empowering, which is something I haven’t felt from my own manager. You taught me how to hold my authority that I am a middle manager, with that is that absolute honour of supporting a team member and helping them progress in their professional development. Throughout the training you have re-ignited my passion for supervisions to just support, help and prioritise their progress in their career.
I found Becky to be incredibly knowledgeable, attentive, and supportive during my time in her session. She showed genuine interest in our team members and created some person-centred mini activities for individuals to help support their personal anxieties/issues. I personally really struggle sitting for 6 hours listening to one trainer, but I found Becky very engaging, and I didn’t find myself wishing for the end of the day 🙂 I would love it if Blue Elephant use Becky again in the future and for other topics of learning as she really was a good teacher, and we all enjoyed her course. After the course can I say I found it very interesting and extremely helpful, and l am looking forward to getting back to work to put into practice what l have learnt l think what helped me most was getting to layout right to get all the information in the most efficient way.
I have done two supervisions since this training, and have been using the mind map technique, which has improved my supervisions immensely. I also feel more confident in my ability to talk to the staff and how to expand on certain subjects when they are brought up. When I first began doing supervisions, I remember my manager telling me that they needed more detail and needed to be “fleshed out” more. I didn’t feel confident in my ability then, to know how to get that information and detail out of the staff. After your course, and from having such a positive interaction with the rest of the seniors, I feel like I am better equipped with the right tools to improve my supervisions. I have also been using the cycle you showed us, which has helped me to have a better flow of conversation throughout my supervisions, and the feedback I have received from my supervisees, has reflected this.
The training was really good. It was engaging and interactive and you managed to make a boring subject very interesting! As a group, we felt validated and heard which was nice to feel and you went a step further with actually supporting us, than most of trainers we have had. It was great training, thank you very much.
The course was extremely helpful and the knowledge and support you provided was brilliant. I found the course very well laid out and informative, this has helped me change the way I am now delivering supervisions. there is nothing I would have changed on the course, and I feel this is one of the best training courses I have been on! thank you very much!
I really enjoyed the course with you and the way you tailored it to what we, the managers needed at that time rather than sticking to the script was refreshing. I have as you imagine attended several supervision training courses over the years however yours does stick out for this exact reason. Exploring my own learning style has opened me up to be able to reflect on others learning needs and become more attune to their needs. I always thought I was ok with supervising others however there’s always more to learn. I especially enjoyed the practical we carried out on the flip chart with the house and the external factors, realising other’s boxes are as full as mine helped me to not get bogged down with it all.
I found the course to be extremely beneficial. I have gained knowledge that I now put into my supervisions and have had positive feedback about these. The course was extremely interactive and kept us all engaged. The trainer was welcoming and had a huge pool of knowledge. I would highly recommend this training to anyone in a supervisory role.
I feel that the training was really positive. It help us to not only develop our knowledge but to come together as a senior team so that we can support each other and create a positive working environment and relationship for us as a senior team. This will be especially good when we need to share knowledge between each other.

I would like to thank you for a well led course full of invaluable content. I found the supervision course interesting, it provided time to reflect on own practice and look at ways to improve. I found it useful to see how other management support supervision within role play exercises and it was great to get the feedback from work peers. I feel a new sense of confidence going forward in regards to supervising other staff members knowing I am armed with the skills needed and an ‘I can do this’ attitude 🙂 I feel this has also boosted my confidence even further in other working areas as well. Overall I am extremely satisfied with the supervision course you run and the way in which you do this provided regular breaks and movement opportunities to keep the energy going.
You have brought an extra layer of quality to IDEM and I know, from speaking with colleagues who have received coaching or training from you, that you have made a difference to those people and thereby the children we support. So a very big thank you Beccie for all you have done for IDEM, it has been a real pleasure working with you.
I have been thinking a lot about the original team and how they are going to come together with the new team, specifically around role, goal and context. The original team have a ‘story’ and some of my thinking has been around how to move them forward from this story. Initially I will be using supervision for defining roles within the context of the home so we can all have a common goal. Once this has been established this will then provide a more clear and coherent foundation to support individuals with their personal goals.
It was really good to meet you in person and to have the course delivered by you. I found the two days really interesting. Some of the areas we looked at I was already familiar with, but others were new to me. I haven’t really looked at learning styles much in the past, so that was good to look at and have a better understanding of the four styles. I found the pace of the course was just right, you are very knowledgeable, easy to understand and what I particularly like is you got us to feel grounded at the start of the sessions and ‘there’; not distracted by other things going on in life. The environment felt comfortable and the group was the right size to feel at ease to talk and be open.
The reflective supervision training has already started to help me as I’ve put it into practice over the weekend and it has helped me to be a lot more visual with it and I’ve found myself being a lot more confident around asking questions and to get the best outcomes from each supervision that I give to my staff and my own supervisions of course.
